The dental implants procedure is typically completed in two phases. First, a small metal post, which serves as the tooth root, is surgically implanted below the gumline. During this procedure, anesthesia and sedation dentistry options are available to ensure the patient's comfort. After a healing period of three to six months, during which time the post fuses with the jawbone, the implant post is topped with a natural-looking dental crown. The dental crown is made of porcelain and serves as the visible portion of the replacement tooth.
